Wall Street Art on the “New Romantics” Show at Corey Helford Gallery! So proud and humbled to be in the company of these amazing artists! Wonderfully crafted exhibit by Caro Buermann!
“On Saturday, July 28, Corey Helford Gallery will premiere new works by over 30 artists in The New Romantics group show, curated by Caro Buermann. The New Romantics surveys this moment’s neo-romantic yearnings for paradise, magic and transcendence above the climate of political, environmental and social turmoil. The opening reception will be held July 28 from 7 pm to 11 pm.
“I’ve been living with this exhibition for nearly a year, but I’ve been living with the questions a lot longer,” says curator Caro Buermann. “There are many shows that celebrate beautiful imagery, but there aren’t many shows that tackle the implications of neo-romance and our growing attraction to the paradisiacal, the beautiful, and the magic that these images inspire. In today’s world, we are instantaneously exposed to a flood of bad news and images of terror which makes people long for safe places and redemptive perspectives.”

“CHG represents a diverse collection of international artists, primarily influenced by today’s pop culture and collectively encompassing style genres such as New Figurative Art, Pop Surrealism, Neo Pop, Graffiti and Street Art, and Post-Graffiti. The gallery has exhibited at important art fairs including SCOPE Miami Beach, SCOPE New York, LA Art Fair, and more. In 2010, CHG also partnered with Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery for the transatlantic collaboration “Art From The New World,” a world-class United Kingdom museum exhibition, showcasing work by a celebrated group of today’s most notable American artists. After nine years in Culver City, CHG re-located in December 2015 to a robust 12,000 sq. ft. building in Downtown Los Angeles, where it continues to host exhibitions within the heart of the city’s art community. The current space boasts three separate galleries, each of which house individual artist and group exhibitions, whereas the main gallery offers 4,500 sq. ft., providing total immersion for its attendees. New exhibitions are presented approximately every four weeks.”

Hi-Fructose Magazine feature on Iva Troj: “Iva Troj’s paintings break the mold of Renaissance style beauty”.
“Though Iva Troj’s paintings share the sensibility and feminine grace present in Renaissance era art, her work is informed by her modern point of view. Growing up in the outskirts of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the now UK-based artist was faced early on with male dominance in a communist country. She often expresses admiration for women artists like Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, whose mere existence was seen as problematic, while men at the time were painting women to look like dolls.”
